Distance from Convention Center: 2.9 miles or a 15 min cab ride.
McGreevy’s is located in the Boston Back Bay and is the nation's first sports bar and home to the Dropkick Murphy’s, (a beloved native Boston band). This place is rich with baseball memorabilia and is only 1200 steps away from Fenway Park. Not only is it Boston’s best sports bar, but it is the birthplace of the Royal Rooters and Red Sox Nation.
This bar has a whole lot of history. First opened in 1894 by “Nuf Ced” McGreevy it was the place to be for mobsters, politicians, ballplayers, gamblers, and lovers of the game. McGreevy had created “America’s first baseball museum” by having every single piece of wall space covered with pictures and memorabilia. How did McGreevy get his nickname? It’s “ced” that he presided over all arguments between fans and would end them by slamming his fist on the bar and declaring, “Nuf-Ced!"
Ken Casey, who is the leader of the Dropkick Murphy’s later re-opened and re-established McGreevy’s after prohibition. It stands in the Back Bay today as a replica of the original bar that was closed for nearly a century.
